Spanish 1 by the Month
agosto (August):
We welcome all students by sharing a little about ourselves and our hopes for the class. We also choose Spanish names and begin learning the alphabet and basic conversational phrases. We also discuss the importance of learning a language like Spanish and talk about some study tips and learning styles.
septiembre (September):
Students will now have Spanish names which we are using in class. We are practicing daily conversational phrases, and the alphabet. We will learn school rules, read and understand the syllabus, and take an open note quiz on the syllabus. We will learn how our textbook and its website works. We also cover our textbooks and decorate those covers with information from our textbook. You will need your student ID for Tuesday, since we check out textbooks then and use the books that day. Our first chapter is 38 pages long and we are aiming for a test the week of September 24th. We have so much to learn between now and then--classroom objects, numbers, telling time, subject pronouns, and the conjugation of our first verb, ser.
octubre (October):
Students will focus on verb conjugation, more specifically the verbs ser, estar, and the verb family -ar verbs, as well as a puppet show.
Been absent? Need an assignment? Click here to email me. As a friendly reminder (since it might not be in your email address), remind me of who you are with your first and last name. As a courtesy, remind me of when you've been gone and why (your absence has to be excused in order to make up the work), and at the end of the school day, I'll email it to you.
